What is considered an emergency?
Unfortunately, our emergency service is often overwhelmed by minor cases or conditions that have been unnecessarily delayed. Hot spots, itching, ear infections, ongoing lameness, or torn dewclaws certainly require treatment but are not emergencies. Likewise, chronic diarrhea, tick removal, or the extraction of a tick head should be handled during regular consultation hours.
However, immediate medical attention is crucial in cases such as:
- Car accidents
- High Rise Cats
- Sudden deterioration due to swallowed foreign objects
- Poisoning or gastric torsion/volvulus
- Severe breathing difficulties
For these life-threatening situations, as well as for trauma patients, our emergency service is here to help!
If your pet has ingested rat poison or similar substances, please bring the packaging if possible—this helps us identify and administer the correct antidote.
